U S Moinuddin, a civil engineer from Dayanada Sagar College of Engineering in Bengaluru who became an Environmentalist, Author, Educationist, Motivational Speaker and a Social Activist, displays a great passion to contribute his efforts towards Environment, Education, Literature, Motivation, and other public related works, for the betterment of mankind.
He is considered as the Guru of Motivation for his habit of constantly encouraging people and also as a man with multiple talents. But, when people call him talented, he smiles and says, “Talent is nothing but hard work that has taken place over the years.”

During his college days he was associated with an organization, which was fighting for the rights of the backward classes and the needy, during this time he developed a keen interest in learning about the problems people faced during their day-to-day life. He would often observe a section of society deteriorating unable to get the guidance that would help them to progress educationally and economically. He would often meet people from different sections of the society to understand, what makes people to act and behave in different ways.
U S Moinuddin, believes that grooming an individual’s personality that includes being humble and a desire to consistently excel is very important in life. It enables them to progress and face life challenges with ease and confidence. He also believes that the essence of education lies in our ability to question and think – ideas, thoughts and ideologies that are entrusted to us by our environment.
Early Life
US Moinuddin was born in Bangalore - now Bengaluru, after 18 years of marriage to N. Syed Umar and Rasheeda Begum. He was named after the Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chisti. His father N. Syed Umar who had worked as the Under Secretary to the Government at Vidhana Soudha had created a name for himself by his simplicity and generosity as a great social server and a man who had unconditionally served the society till his last breath. As a child U S Moinuddin was fascinated by Phantom and Tarzan, the legendary characters created by Lee Falk and Edger Rice Burroughs. Phantom and Tarzan comics captivated his imagination as a child and a deep love towards trees and forests developed in him.
He would go around searching for tiny plants growing naturally in vacant plots in the neighborhood and near a pipe lane road in an adjacent area. He would pluck the tiny plants with utmost care and plant them in front of his house.
He had his schooling done at AV Education Society in Bengaluru and Subsequently studied Civil Engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bengaluru. As a child his thoughts were mature, farsighted, philosophical and vision oriented, his father’s maternal uncle Syed Yousuf who was the Principal of Dayananda Sagar College in the initial years of it’s starting would often say to Moinuddin that you have an “old head on young shoulders.”

Passion for Music
U S Moinuddin is very passionate about Music; he loves Hard Rock and Heavy Metal and enthusiastically playing the Acoustic and Electric Guitar. Born and brought up in a conservative Muslim background where playing music was largely discouraged, U S Moinuddin purchased a guitar from his first earning and Knocked at the Doors of Reynolds Music Shop on Brigade Road, he met Robert Xavier who was conducting guitar classes at Reynolds. He learnt the different chords and guitar scales from him and eventually learnt to play the guitar. When asked how good a guitarist he is, he says, jokingly “Well I can play.”
Tennis
He was also a Tennis player, and has played Tennis in the Junior State level tournaments during his school days. He started playing at Sri. Kanteerava Stadium, and also attended a coaching camp at KSLTA, For some time he used to practice in a private tennis court belonging to the Bhatt Family, which was later on demolished to develop a garment industry. Due to non-availability of tennis courts and professional coaching in Bangalore south at that time, he had to discontinue tennis with a lot of frustration.
Personal Life
U S Moinuddin is Married to Zulfi Malik now Zulfi Moin, who is also the Managing Trustee of Magnifique Schools. Together they have two daughters Syeda Shazamani, Raeesa Moin and a Son Shehzaad Umar.
